You had me at whisky shots and klezmer dancing. Maybe I can talk w my Zumba teacher about that. I love that you are on a Jewish journey - it keeps you moving forward, focused on what is out there to learn and enhance your life. What a great way to live.
The deepening of your Jewish knowledge has helped enlighten me soooo much. And of course, I love your writing. This year, I have learned to listen more and speak less. I have also learned that, “no response is a good response”.
Commenting on your #4 regarding heroic death (was it the 4th? I’m bad at math), I learned this year that successful Roman generals were honored with a parade upon returning to Rome. Sounds very upbeat I thought. And yet I was a bit hasty. Along side of them was a person whose role was to occasionally whisper “ Remember you are going to die.” Well, I think that is open to a slew of interpretations (so, so Jewish a concept); one of them being the individual moment is also a universal one.
One of my favorite Shabbat Drops yet! Full of gems. I look forward to learning what you're learning :)
I’m jealous of those living in nyc area who have you as a guide! I’m also sad that I moved way out west before you came into your own.
Your growth becomes ours too. Thank you.
