Hebrew Word of the Week:
I’m studying post office words with my Hebrew tutor, and a package is chavila (חבילה), a letter is michtav (מכתב), and a stamp is bul (בול). Will these words ever be useful for me to know? מי יודע
Good morning, afternoon, or evening, wherever this finds you.
I’ve been doing some housekeeping here on The Drop. If only I were as diligent in my personal life!
A few exciting announcements: *cue fanfare*
1. You can now easily explore older Drops in the archive!
I’m blessed to have had a jump in readership this year, but if you’re new here, did you know I’ve been writing for four years?
That’s right! The Shabbat Drop recently turned four years old. She’s saying full sentences and is truly developing cognitively and emotionally. If you want to get a glimpse of her in her infancy, you can now read older pieces organized by holidays, books, interesting Jews (interviews and guest contributor pieces), and more.
2. Paid subscriptions are now open.
What, you thought you would just keep getting all this content for free, forever? In this economy?! Don’t worry, I’ll still send weekly Drops, but those who upgrade to a paid subscription will get occasional bonus content (see below for an example).
You can now opt in to pay monthly, annually, or be a “Shabbat Macher.” Macher means maker/doer in Yiddish, aka a big shot. Check out the perks below! Absolutely no pressure at all.
Perks may be subject to change. And there may even be more added, like… exclusive events?! Who knows. The world is my kosher oyster.
3. You can now wear your Jewish joy on your sleeve!
The Shabbat Shop is now open for business!
I never envisioned opening up my own virtual store, but every time I wear my Shabbat Shalom (hey!) t-shirt, I get asked if I’m selling it. Now I am, and now YOU can now get in the Shabbat spirit with a joyful, loud and proud t-shirt, among other items. Shop ‘til you drop!

I don’t expect anyone to buy anything. Honestly, these shipping prices are ridiculous. But if you do, I am sincerely grateful. 💜 💚
Have any item requests? A cropped tee? A crew neck? Christmas tree ornaments? DM me!
Okay, now here’s a sneak peek at some of the bonus content you’ll get if you upgrade to paid. Usually, it will be relevant to this week’s essay, but since this Drop is all about announcements, here’s a cool Torah-related story. Back to regular, niche, joyful Jewish content next time!
Shabbat Shalom! Feeling like a sellout,

Mazel tov!!
